For The Garden.

Aren't these antique silver garden markers from Hammermann's Etsy so pretty?  They would make a lovely gift to a gardener - and they also make me feel like getting some indoor herbs started.  Aaaah... looking forward to getting my hands dirty this spring!

Short Hair Love.

Spring is here! Kind of early, kind of suspiciously, kind of awesome.  I am so glad for it, too (and sorry if you are reading this from somewhere about to get blasted with a snowstorm).  So glad, in fact, that I've been sauntering around in flip flops (...aaah, exposed toes...feels so good...) fantasizing about some seriously short new hair.  Here's some looks & locks I love.

Which one is your fave?

Doggy Bath.

Doggy bath for the home! How exciting & adorable.  Way better than tossing Mable in the tub, only to have her jump out again and soak everything!

John's Dream Home. (I Approve.)

Today I thought I would show you some pictures of John's dream house in Beaufort, South Carolina (on the market for $800,000 - a steal!).  He called me from work and told me to look at it immediately.  I have to say, it is immaculate.  Funny though, I think my favorite thing about it are those beautiful trees in the yard.  (Note the view of them from the first bedroom.)

Here's to dreaming (and having a husband with good taste)!  Happy Friday

Keep This Mantra.

For those of you who might have had a less-than-amazing Valentine's Day (I've been there) and may be feeling a little bit blah about guys & dating & all the tension that can come along with it.... just keep this mantra in your head ALL DAY and then go buy a pair of heels.

Like these beauties from BHLDN.

{Love.}

{Oh my goodness.  I just had to re-blog this from butter and brass.  Such a sweet story! I can't stop staring at the photo.}

A Lifetime of Love

my grandma and grandpa, dorothy and donald, were married on a warm june afternoon in 1949 in a small church in st. paul, minnesota. the day before the wedding, a doctor had discovered that my grandpa had strep throat and prescribed him antibiotics and bed rest. the morning of the wedding, his temperature was well over 100°F. regardless, nothing would stop him from marrying my grandma. she wore a beautiful, new, white suit with pearl and gold buttons and an orchid corsage, a borrowed gold necklace, and a traditional blue garter. after driving off in their decorated car, my grandpa went back to bed. i love this photo of them. my grandpa could not take his eyes off her, and who could blame him.

Isn't that so sweet?  Happy Valentine's Day!

Audrey Is Still Cool.

This weekend I am looking forward to doing not a lot.  I think that will be very nice.  I also think it would be nice if Mable fit in a bike basket so I could cart her around town. And if I had this outfit, assembled by Miss Moss and based on the photo.

(Especially those socks.)

Anyway, Monday is Valentine's Day, so don't forget!  And have a lovely weekend!

Little Secret.

Today I am going to let you in on a little secret, because you are awesome.  And this little secret is awesome, so it is a perfect match.  There is a super-cool blogger out there by the name of Miss Moss.  Along with clothing, vintage photography, art, food and design, this girl makes some pretty spot-on music mixes.  What is even better is the fact that they are free to download.  I have happily downloaded all of them and thoroughly enjoyed each playlist, so I thought I would share.  And honestly, if good music isn't the perfect pick-me-up for winter, I don't know what is.  Check out the goodness HERE.

The Classics.

The classics - god love 'em - they never die! Isn't it so nice to know there exists in this world an outfit (striped tee and good jeans) you can wear for all of time and never be out of style?  Sometimes, these discoveries make my day.  I'm looking forward to wearing this one all spring & summer.

And Then There Is Personality...

Forrest Gump said that you could tell a lot about a person by their shoes, but I beg to differ.  Okay, he might be right.  But maybe you can tell a lot about a person by their jewelry?  What do you think?  I think you might be able to determine age by the type of jewelry,  and at least take a guess at the social status by the hugeness of the jewels.  And then there is personality... funky, fun, simple, classic, retro, hippie, outlandish, exquisite, modern, relaxed, serious... the list is endless.  But I must say, if I were to be typecast by my jewels, I'd want to be wearing these by Stuart & Wright, and if you agree then we'd be fast friends.

Also, not a bad Valentine to give someone! Check out Stuart & Wright to see more.

Ideas I Love.

Ah, Valentine's day is lighting up the blog world, but I must confess... my husband and I have botched Valentine's day, someway, somehow, since we've begun dating.  We approach this day like clumsy people with two left feet.  The charges against each other are long, and include forgetting the actual day and some very sad looking flowers (neon colored carnations).
But who cares.  Messing up Valentine's day makes me love him even more.  And right now I thought I'd share some other "loves" of mine.  Here is some of the great stuff I've been poring over this week.  Enjoy.

Fat babies.

Houses surrounded by mountains.

This portrait, which is on sale here, and which I think is lovely.

Have I mentioned I'm obsessed with treehouses?

And this room, too, is the only room I will ever want in life.  That ceiling!  That tub!  That skylight! That painting! Love.

This one needs no explanation, right?

Optimistic & Uplifted.

Oh you guys, I am so happy January is over, done, fin and we won't have to greet it again for another year.  I know winter is still here, but we are one month closer to spring and that makes me feel more optimistic & uplifted, because to be honest, January was giving me the killer blues.  Yech.  Apparently, January was also giving our friends the blues too, because they called on Friday and asked if we would like to pack up and head to the beach for an impromptu camping trip, and we heartily agreed.

It felt so good to have sandy feet, and hike around with the dogs - Mable & Greg - watching them leap and chase birds.  Also, to sleep under the stars and hear Mable growl at lingering raccoons.... fun stuff!  I heartily recommend the beach as the cure for anything, but especially the January blues.  Go, if you can and sleep under the stars.
