For the past few months (or at least since winter hit) I've been skeptical about the fashionable aspect of
Dansko shoes. Once I was wearing my black pair in Nordstrom and the shoe salesman told me they looked like nurses shoes. (Thanks a lot, right? No offense, nurses.) I suppose he was kind of right, but I like to think of them as more a comfy clog. Does that fly? Anyway, the point is that I was psyched to see someone rocking the Danskos on
The Sartorialist, mainly because that is the first time (and probably the last) I've seen an article of clothing I own on The Sart, and also because this woman makes Danskos look cool! This may be an impossible feat. However, nurses shoe or not, they are
so comfortable.
Anyway, I think they look even better with the exposed sock. Any thoughts on the Dansko? To love or not to love?

Haha, Annie I have had many conversations about these shoes, and the conclusion that I have come to is that they always look cute on other people, but when I wear them I feel like a huge dork! I get compliments on mine whenever I wear them, however, so maybe that's just the thing about Danskos. We will always feel humble when wearing them, and therefore give off some kind of really cool, I don't give a shit kind of vibe. You think? :)
I say love. I still wear the Danskos I bought 15+ years ago in Athens while at UGA. They have held up beautifully. That said, I'm all about comfort.. I happily went barefoot down the aisle at my wedding, no heels for me! I'm not exactly the best judge of a shoes stylishness (I'm guessing you already know this!)
What a coincidence...I literally just bought my first pair last week. I thought the ones I chose were pretty cute. I had my reservations, but I think I talked myself into thinking they worked with my style quite nicely. I usually buy a pair of shoes for each season, and then wear them every day until the season changes, and these seem extremely durable. And the arch on the Dansko is like heaven to my feet (I have plantar fasciitis).
I think they look really cute in the picture-I'm not sure I could pull them off-maybe look too dumpy/matronly? My friends who are in the medical field and work at starbucks wear them and love them. They also kinda look European? Gotta love a good clog.
i agree. i think they always look cuter on other people! still, they do last FOREVER. not a bad investment, overall.
